BVG to soon become Covenant Commission

Baptist Vision of Georgia (BVG) recently made its supporters aware of the coming name change and transformation of BVG. This is not to be confused with a change in our vision, message, or objectives. We are entering a new phase in the life of this ministry that calls for greater responsibility, awareness, and tactics in carrying out our mission. Henceforth, the leadership of this ministry is intensifying efforts to raise standards and performance over the next few months.  Read more...

On the Duty of Observing the Christian Sabbath

By Rev. Davis Collins

Charleston Baptist Association, South Carolina

Circular Letter, 1809

The laws and ordinances of God have been ever, by the wise and good, justly held most sacred. The ancient Jewish Church had many of them, which were either moral, judicial, or ceremonial. Of these, some were typical of Christ; such, with all which strictly belonged to the Jewish state and polity, were at his appearance abrogated; but the moral precepts remain obligatory on Christians, and are incorporated with the duties and worship of the New Testament Church Such is the institution of the Sabbath -- The subject on which we promised to address you in this Letter.  Read more...

Martin Luther King Jr. Was Not A Good Man!  (outside link)

By Dr. Don Boys, Ph.D.

CSTNews.com

Martin Luther King’s statement that a person should be judged by his character not the color of his skin is a majestic thought. I will do that as I look at King, and I wonder if radical leftists, King worshipers, white liberals, black non-thinkers, media moguls and others will do the same? Some “conservatives” need to do likewise!  Read more...  (outside link)

Nothing New Under the Sun

A Not So New Strategy

by James Brown Jr.

Baptist Vision of Georgia

We are living in a time of transition from one order to the next. The question of our day is who is going to be the establishment of tomorrow. Somebody along with their worldview will have dominion, as there is no utopian world of every man doing what is right in his own eyes. Such a utopia would be anarchy with men trampling one another to exercise their own rights (self-righteousness).  Read more...

Exposing the Manhattan Declaration

The Alteration Declaration

By James Brown Jr.

Baptist Vision of Georgia

The Manhattan Declaration's List of Religious Leaders Signatories could stand as the Who's Who of modern American Evangelicalism. Out of the 178 national leaders who have signed the declaration, several names appear on the list that I admire. A number of others I would not walk across the street to hear with free drinks and pizza. In spite of that, every name is respected and recognizable within the evangelical community, no matter what I think of them.  Read more...

Book review: The Real Lincoln

By Rachel Brown

Baptist Vision of Georgia

Everyone knows about Abraham Lincoln. No doubt about that. He is considered one of the greatest American Presidents and the favorite of many.

However, nobody really knows him for what he really was. Did you know that Lincoln didn't really free the slaves, contrary to popular belief? Did you also know that the real reason for the War of Southern Independence wasn't slavery? Although these things defy the modern perception, they are true.  Read more...

Standing for virtue

The Question of Modesty

By James Brown Jr.

Baptist Vision of Georgia

In this article, we will mainly be dealing with the subject of physical nakedness. The reason we will focus on this one facet is because Christianity is feeling the effects of a sexualized culture. Are Attempts to Reclaim the Culture a Pointless Exercise?  (outside link)

By Gary DeMar

American Vision

First-century believers could have offered tangible evidence that there was little chance for the gospel to have an impact on the status quo of religious and civil oppression in their day. How could a small band of men—led by a fisherman (Peter) and a tentmaker (Paul)—living under Roman occupation ever conceive that their circumstances would change enough so that the gospel message would lead to the transformation of the world? To add to the improbability of a world-wide impact, soon after the victorious ascension of Jesus and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on His disciples, one of their own was killed by the religious establishment (Acts 7:54–60). What did God do? He converted the man who led the persecution and made him a missionary to the Roman Empire! (9:1–31). After Stephen’s death, James, the brother of John, was executed by the local civil governor (12:1–2) and Peter was arrested and thrown in prison. What did God do? Herod “was eaten by worms and died” (12:23). Through tradition we learn that every apostle, with the exception of John, died a martyr. Read more...  (outside link)

Second Southern National Congress Concludes With Passage of the ‘Southern National Covenant’

One hundred and fifty Southerners from the fourteen Southern States convened at the Second Southern National Congress (SNC), September 11-13, at scenic Cheaha State Park, the highest point in Alabama, and passed several important measures, including the Southern National Covenant.  The Covenant, like the SNC itself, has its roots in the age-old hunger for liberty in the Western world.  It echoes other historic covenants that proved to be crucial turning points in Western man’s struggle to secure freedom and justice under law.  Signers of the Covenant on September 13, many of whom sealed their signatures in blood, pledge to resist Federal tyranny and work to restore liberty, justice, and sovereignty for the Southern States and People.  Read more...

A Modern-Day Daniel  (outside link)

By Chuck Baldwin

chuckbaldwinlive.com

The Biblical story of Daniel in the lion's den is one of the more famous stories of the Old Testament. In the story, Daniel is commanded to not pray by a decree from King Darius. Imagine that! Can you imagine any government forbidding its people to pray? What kind of totalitarian state would do such a thing? OK, perhaps Red China or North Korea, but that's about it, right? Oh, did I mention that Daniel was a government employee? (I guess the ACLU has been around a lot longer than everyone thought.)

Well, friends, think again. The nation that is resurrecting the totalitarian policies of old King Darius is none other than the good old United States of America.

For example, in an adjoining county to my hometown in Florida, a federal district judge by the name of Casey Rodgers has instigated criminal charges against a high school principal by the name of Frank Lay and his athletic director, Robert Freeman. Their crime: praying. Their possible sentence: jail. Darius' prosecutors are federal attorneys Randy Hensel and Dixie Morrow. Read more...  (outside link)

THE KINSEY SYNDROME: WILL YOUR CHILD BE THE NEXT VICTIM?  (outside link)

By Devvy Kidd

NewswithViews.com

The Kinsey Syndrome is one of the most important DVDs ever produced. I have long been a reader of Dr. Judith Reisman, who has dedicated her life to exposing the real danger and consequences of the 'sexual revolution' and pornography. She is a remarkable woman who backs up everything she says and writes with hard documentation. There are those who claim that pornography is a victimless past time protected by the First Amendment either do not have the facts or they simply do not care about the harm it has done to our society -- especially to America's children. Too many confuse 'libertarian' with licentiousness. The result is the complete cultural and moral breakdown of our society.  Read more...  (outside link)

GOOD FOR NOTHING CHRISTIANS

By Chuck Baldwin

Chuck Baldwin Live.com

Jesus said that salt without savor is "good for nothing." Savor is the ingredient, the character that gives salt its quality--and its value. When salt is as it should be, it is a most precious commodity. Not only is it used as a seasoning; it is, more importantly, a preservative. As most everyone knows, salt was the primary source of food preservation before the days of refrigeration. Salt has been deemed to be so valuable at times that wars have actually been waged over it. During times of unusual deprivation, salt can be even more valuable than precious metals. But when salt loses its saltiness, it is absolutely worthless; it is "good for nothing."  Read more...

We created our Black Regiment directory to help people find churches that were willing to stand up for Christ and liberty, as did colonial preachers of old. Covenant Baptist Church is one of those historic churches according to the "faith once delivered to the saints" for Middle Georgia.  For more information contact Pastor James Brown Jr. at baptistvision@baptistvisiononline.org

Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Ray McBerry Condemns DOJ Ruling Against Georgia's Voter Citizenship Verification

Baptist Vision of Georgia

In a decision delivered to Secretary of State Karen Handel earlier this week, the federal department of justice announced that Georgia's citizenship verification of voters is to immediately cease. Georgia's verification of citizenship was begun as a result of increasing illegal attempts by aliens and others to vote in Georgia elections; and, as secure elections are a hallmark of a free republic, it is the inherent right of every sovereign state to take those steps necessary to guarantee such. Adjudication of the issue is not a matter which falls within the competent jurisdiction of the federal government, since that entity is merely the agent of the States.  Read more...
